Gravity Gun
A Half-Life 2 icon that has no place in the Saints Row arsenal.
The Gravity Gun, formally called the Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator, is a signature weapon from Valve's Half-Life 2 (2004) and its expansion Episode Two (2007). It is not an item from the Saints Row franchise. No Saints Row title (2006–2022) includes a weapon by this name or an equivalent gravity-manipulation tool in its arsenal, vehicle roster, or customization options. Any wiki entry placing the Gravity Gun under Saints Row canon would be inaccurate.

Lore & Background
In the Half-Life 2 universe the Gravity Gun is a Combine-issued tool that lets the user lock onto an object or enemy and pull it toward them, then release it with force. Gordon Freeman carries it through City 17, the Coast, and Nova Prospekt, using it to hurl barrels, crates, and Combine soldiers alike. It is one of the few weapons that is both a combat tool and a puzzle-solving device, central to the game's physics-based level design.
The weapon's design—a chunky, industrial device with a glowing blue aperture—has made it one of the most recognizable props in all of gaming. It appears in Half-Life 2, Episode Two, Half-Life: Alyx, and the Half-Life: Source remake. It has also been referenced or parodied in numerous other titles, but it remains a Valve property and is not licensed into the Saints Row series.
In Their Own Story
The corridor in City 17 smells of rust and ozone. Gordon grips the Gravity Gun, its blue lens humming against his palm. A Combine Stalkers hovers overhead, scanning. He locks on, the device whining as it drags a rusted shipping container out of the rubble and hurls it into the Stalkers' rotor. The metal shrieks. In the silence that follows, the only sound is the soft click of the aperture cycling back to idle, waiting for the next object to pull from the world.
Reader's Guide
The Gravity Gun does not appear in any Saints Row title and therefore has no acquisition method, stat line, or customization role within that franchise.
In Half-Life 2 it is obtained automatically by the player during the 'Follow the Freeman' mission in City 17 and remains in the inventory for the rest of the campaign. It has no ammo cost; its 'damage' is purely kinetic, scaling with the mass of the object being thrown and the distance it travels.
Because it is absent from Saints Row, there is no body-paint option, no vehicle pairing, and no gang-aesthetic context to describe. Readers looking for absurd Saints Row weapons should instead look to the Minigun, the Bat, the Rocket Launcher, or the various Saints Row IV superpower-themed armaments.
Did You Know?
- The Gravity Gun's in-game name, 'Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator,' is a tongue-in-cheek reference to real physics concepts, and it appears in the game's item pickup text.
- In Half-Life 2 the weapon can be used to solve environmental puzzles, such as pulling a crate onto a pressure plate to open a gate, making it as much a tool as a weapon.
- The Gravity Gun was not in the original 1998 Half-Life; it debuted in Half-Life 2 in 2004 and has since become one of Valve's most iconic visual trademarks.
- The weapon has no direct equivalent or licensed appearance in any Saints Row game from 2006 through the 2022 reboot.
